EndNote is a research manager and bibliography generator supporting over 6,000 reference styles. Accounts can be synchronized across desktop, online, and iPad. Plugins are available for Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Apache Open Office.
New Mexico Tech provides an EndNote license to current faculty, students, and staff. EndNote comes installed on all TCC workstations. This includes all the computers available to students and faculty in the Skeen Library.
You can also download EndNote onto your own computer by visiting http://infohost.nmt.edu/tcc/help/endnote/. EndNote is available for both Windows and MacOS X. When you open the program for the first time, you may be asked to update.
To set up your online account, go to Web of Science and create a free account. You must either be on campus or authenticated by signing in with your library account when you access Web of Science.
You can access EndNote Online directly by going to http://www.myendnoteweb.com/
To synchronize your online account with your desktop, open the desktop program. Under Edit > Preferences > Sync, add your login information for Web of Science
When you are logged in to Web of Science, you can add References to EndNote from both the search results and the record details. The button at the top of each of these pages gives you the option to save to either EndNote Online or EndNote Desktop.
It is easiest to save to EndNote Online. Those records are then immediately marked as added to your EndNote account while searching the database. If you choose EndNote desktop, the record will be downloaded to your computer. You then must open that file to add it to the program. In either case, after your account has synchronized, the record will appear both online and on your desktop, and those records will be marked in Web of Science.
Most other library databases have the option to save records to EndNote under their respective cite or export options.
