New Library Resources

Skeen Library is dedicated to helping you find the information you need for your research, homework assignments, conference presentations, and more. Sometimes it can be really difficult to even find what you're looking for. Other times, you may have found it just fine but can't figure out how to retrieve or download it. Traditionally, that's where services like Interlibrary Loan come in handy. You can also chat online with a librarian or staff member for additional help, tips and tricks, and troubleshooting.

But we know that sometimes you don't have the time or inclination to submit a request through Interlibrary Loan, or you're researching after hours when a librarian isn't available to chat. This is where a suite of new products we're trying out really shines!

BrowZine, LibKey, LibKey Nomad, and are meant to help you find and retrieve what you’re looking for faster and easier.*

  • BrowZine is a quick and easy way for you to see what electronic journals Skeen Library subscribes to, and search them. Bookmark this link for easy access (, and it's also on the main library page under Accessing Your Account and Online Resources (
  • LibKey is a behind-the-scenes product that will make your searches of databases and the library catalog more efficient and effective. We’re currently working on adding this to our most popular databases (Web of Science, ScienceDirect, IEEE, PubMed, ProQuest, Springer, the library catalog), so please be patient as we roll them out.
  • LibKey Nomad** is a browser extension that will activate when the user is on a scholarly website. If LibKey Nomad detects a DOI or PMID, a banner will show up in the bottom left hand corner, prompting the user to download it (if we subscribe) or request it via ILL. Learn more about it here:
  • is the academic alternative to Sci-Hub. All you have to do is enter the DOI or PMID and the system will find the article. There will be an option to download, request via ILL, and even view the article within its original context (the journal it was published in). Learn more about it here:

You can also find links to BrowZine, LibKey Nomad, and under the New/Trial Databases section of our A-Z Database page.

The trial for these products ends on December 13, 2020, so please use them as much as you can between now and then.

We'd also love to hear from you on what you like the most, what products you're using, and how it's helped you in your research. Fill out the survey now!

*We were REALLY blown away by how quickly and easily we got our results with these products:

**In our humble opinion, LibKey Nomad is by far the easiest tool to install and use. Download it to your browser, and it does all the work for you.
