What is the library catalog?

The library catalog is the search engine of the library (kind of like Google). No matter what library you use, the catalog is always a good place to start because it can tell you several things:

  • if the library has what you're looking for, either in physical of electronic/digital format
  • if there is a physical copy in the building, and where it is (Location and Call Number)
  • if the library has an electronic version, and where you can go to download it
  • if the item is available at another library, which can be requested through Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
  • if it is checked out, and when it's due back
  • if there are other editions or versions (such as eBooks, or an older copy)

As you progress in your studies at NMT, you will probably find library databases that you like the best and you'll start your research there. But don't forget that the library catalog is always available and can help you find resources throughout Skeen's physical and electronic collections.

Yep, this is a library catalog too.
