1. Start with a simple search
Enter your search term(s) into the search bar on the library search page. You can also use the search bar above.
2. Look at your results
They will be listed with books (including eBooks).
3. Narrow your results
If you want to narrow your search results to articles, use the facets on the left side of the page. Begin by selecting Article under the Format option, and further narrow your results from there.
4a. Retrieve your item (digital articles)
To access a digital (and usually downloadable), click on the View full text button. NOTE: if the View full text button takes you to a broken link, follow the directions in Step 5 for more access options. If you hit a paywall, please contact us.
4b. Retrieve your item (print articles)
To locate and retrieve a print article, use its location and call number to retrieve it from the bookshelves (or "stacks," in library lingo). Sometimes (like in this example), an article may be available in both formats, so choose whichever format works best for you.
Not sure how to locate a print article in Skeen Library? Swing by the Front Desk for assistance and a library staff member will be happy to help you!
5. Dig deeper
If you want to see more information about an article, click on the title to view the full record. Additional access links may be labeled View full text, View item online, or Check for Electronic Resources.
6. Go back to the results
You can still see your search results on the left side of the page. Just click on View Filters in the upper left corner to go back. NOTE: the text in the upper left corner may also read Search Tools. Don't worry--it will still take you back to your search results!
7. Rinse and repeat
Need to do a new search? You can always put a new search term(s) in the bar at the top of the page.
