Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Learn how to use the Skeen Library Interlibrary Loan system!

Welcome to the ILL Loan Request Tutorial!

Follow the steps in this handy tutorial to learn how to make a loan request through ILL.

Once you're at the library's homepage, click the link above to navigate to the search page.

Note: the library's homepage is www.nmt.edu/library

  1. Enter the title, author, or ISBN of the item that you would like.

  2. Change the search parameters to include Libraries Worldwide.

  3. Click the Search button to begin your search.

If Skeen Library doesn't have access to the item you need, click on the Request Item through Interlibrary Loan button to begin your ILL request.

If you're not already signed in to your library account, you will be prompted to sign in before you can submit your request. If you've never activated your library account or forgot your library password, click on the Set/reset password link.

Note: Your library password is different from your Banweb password.

Verify that your Request Type at the top of the page is Loan Request.

Information regarding the item and your account will auto-fill into the appropriate fields.
You may need to manually enter the specific item information (title, author, edition, date, ISBN, OCLC#).

Please select your NMT Affiliation (1) before you click Submit Request (2).

You will receive an email when your item is available and ready for pickup at the Circulation desk. It will be held for 14 days, and if not picked up, it will be returned to the lending library after that time.

Please do not opt out of notifications, as email is the only way to notify you when your ILL request is available, closed, or if we need more information in order to complete the request.

Your item will have a book-strap attached which gives you, and us, information on your borrowed item:

  1. Request ID Number

  2. Due date for the item to be returned to Skeen Library

  3. Reminder: Please do not remove the book-strap!

A requirement of your ILL loan privilege is to care for lent items and return them in the same condition in which they were received. Libraries may refuse to lend to us in the future if their materials are late or damaged. If the book-strap is not returned with the item, your account may be subject to suspension.

Please be responsible with your ILL requests and items.

Additional things you should know:

  • If you cannot find the item in the catalog search, you can manually fill out a request form.

  • The more accurate information you provide, the faster we can find the right item for you.

  • Upon Skeen Library’s processing of the loaned item, you have two weeks, or 14 days, to collect it. If not picked up within that time frame, the item will be returned and a second request for the same item may be denied.

  • Return all borrowed items to Skeen Library's circulation desk. Do not leave ILL items in the overnight book drop.
