In March 2019, Dr. Caleb Richardson (University of New Mexico), gave a presentation on the history of the first international holiday: St. Patrick's Day.
The History of St. Patrick's Day
The most widely celebrated national holiday is not the Fourth of July, or Cinco de Mayo, or Bastille Day: it's St. Patrick's Day. But St. Patrick's Day is not just about Ireland or St. Patrick. It's not just about green beer, corned beef and cabbage. It's also about the millions of Irish emigrants who left Ireland over the centuries and made their mark on the world. Dr. Caleb Richardson will discuss what is the first international holiday.
