Engage the World

Information on Skeen Library's Engage the World series

Overview

In April 2018, PhD candidate Abigail Robertson introduced attendees to digital humanities, and discussed the research that formed the basis of her dissertation in the English Department at the University of New Mexico.

The Future of Exploring the Past: Digital Humanities and Medieval Studies

This presentation will discuss various applications of digital humanities genres within the context of a large-scale project that engages literature, art, and architecture in multimodal applications to aid in research and pedagogical practice. Through the creation of a digital edition of an Anglo-Latin text and a 3D deep map of Winchester Cathedral, this project incorporates coding, spatial design, and digital imaging (both multi-spectral and 3D mapping) to represent materials related to the cult of St. Swithun, an Anglo-Saxon saint who was well known in England and beyond.
